Donation Basket for State Conference

OSSDAR State Conference Donation Baskets Chemawa Indian School
Ladies - There are going to be some differences this year for the Oregon State Conference.  Instead of having chapters spend money to create table centerpieces, we are going to have empty baskets on each table. The basket donations for the Friday Chapter Awards Lunch will be for Chemawa Indian School, Friday Chapter Regent's Recognition Dinner will be for DAR Project Patriot, Saturday Youth and Community Awards Lunch will be for literacy promotion, and Saturday Gala Banquet will be for DAR Service for Veterans.  If members who are unable to attend State Conference want to make a donation for our baskets, please give to someone in your chapter who is attending.  You can donate for each group or pick the one you most want to support.  All donations are greatly appreciated. This is the wish list for Chemawa Indian School. State Literacy Promotion Chair Amanda Pool sent out an email earlier this week for books.  I will be sending another email with the lists for DAR Project Patriot and DAR Service for Veterans.

OSSDAR State Conference Donation Baskets - DAR Project Patriot
Ladies - Here is the list of requested donations for DAR Project Patriot -

Coast Guard Stations -
The items for our Coasties are: books and games for children; for the single members and those without children, items like gift cards for restaurants (even fast food).  Those stationed here have access to toiletries, etc., but can use help with entertainment, which is a luxury. Amazon gift cards are also good.

Operation Gratitude
Scarves and hats -
Your finished scarves should measure between 4”–6” in width and
48” – 50” in length.

Please do NOT put a pom-pom on hats

We ask that you use a size 4 medium worsted weight yarn in muted colors that will match our troop’s uniforms. Deep shades of blues, greens, grays, reds, browns, tan, and black are all good choices and also appropriate for both male and female troops. You can also use multi-colored yarn in these colors or make multi-colored scarves and hats. Please do not send solid white hats or scarves. There is nothing more thoughtful and personal than a handwritten note inside a beautiful handmade card. Every care package we send not only includes handwritten letters from grateful Americans, but also blank greeting cards for our service members' own personal use. We invite you to put your paper crafting skills to work making blank cards that our deployed troops can then use to write home to their loved ones.

By taking the time to craft a Paracord “Survival” Bracelet, you are providing a Military or First Responder with a tangible, lasting expression of your gratitude and a symbol of the appreciation of grateful Americans everywhere.

Not only do these bracelets look cool, but they can also be used to save a life in an emergency situation. We include them in our Care Packages because they’re both functional and meaningful, as they are handmade by an American who wants to show their appreciation to our Military and First Responders.
